Privacy Policy

Acumo is private by default. The short version: we do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data, and the app works fully offline.

Data we collect

None. Acumo has no server, no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no crash reporter that phones home. We cannot see your saved words, your review history, your settings, or whether you use the app at all. The App Store privacy label for this app is “Data Not Collected.”

Data that stays on your device

Everything you create lives in the app’s own storage on your device:

• The words and phrases you save, including the ones you add yourself
• Your review history and scheduling state
• Your settings, such as your gloss language, reminder time and appearance

Uninstalling the app removes all of it. If you back up your iPhone, iPad or Mac, the app’s data is part of that backup, which is held by Apple or on your own computer, never by us.

Backups and exports

Acumo Pro can export your list for Anki or as CSV, and can back it up to a file. Each of these is a file you save yourself, wherever you choose, such as Files or iCloud Drive. The app sends it nowhere, and we never receive a copy. Restoring reads a file you pick; nothing is fetched from anywhere else.

Notifications

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. There is no push service, no device token, and no server that knows when or whether you study. Acumo asks for permission only after you finish your first review session, and reminders work entirely offline.

Pronunciation

Words are spoken by the voices already installed on your device, using Apple’s own speech system. Nothing you hear is fetched from the internet, and nothing you do is sent anywhere.

Purchases

The one-time Pro unlock is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether the purchase is valid, and ties it to your Apple Account so you can restore it on your other devices. Apple’s handling of purchase data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Third parties

Acumo contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking code. The only external code is the open-source FSRS scheduling library, which runs entirely on your device and makes no network calls.

Children

Acumo is a general-audience study tool aimed at adult and older-teen learners. It is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no data from anyone.

Content licences

Acumo’s pronunciation data is derived from the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary (Carnegie Mellon University, BSD licence), whose notice is reproduced in full in the app under Settings, then About, then Acknowledgements. Everything else in the collection is original: the meanings, examples and usage notes were written for Acumo, and no dictionary’s wording is reproduced.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at the same address. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
