What Word Everest is

Word Everest is a word game for iPhone and iPad, made from the collection of Acumo. A climb has seven levels, and each of the first six is a game of its own: Meaning Match, Scramble, Sound Pairs, Clue Ladder, Spot the Slip and Right Word. The Summit plays a round of all six. After every level you choose: bank the stars you carry, or climb on for more.

It is a game, not a dictionary. To study a word you met in it, tap Study in Acumo.

How do I play a game I have not met yet?

Each level shows how it is played the first time you reach it, with a short demo and a try. To see any of them again, open Settings, then Help, then How to play. Replay the tour, under Help too, walks you through the whole game again.

The clocks are too fast for me

Open Settings, then Accessibility, then Slower clocks. Every question’s clock is longer from the next level, and so is today’s ladder’s time to beat. Points for speed still count against the usual clock, so a climb counts as any other. Text size, Reduce Motion and VoiceOver follow your device’s own settings.

Coins, passes and hints

  • A climb starts on a pass. Free passes come back over time, and coins buy more in the Wallet (Settings, then Wallet), which lists every price before you spend.
  • Coins also buy a continue after a fall, once a level: a new puzzle at the same level, with your stars kept.
  • A hint asks before it spends coins, until you switch that off in Settings, then Hints.
  • Wins pay stars, never coins. Coins come from the daily gift, today’s ladder, coin packs and Plus, and coins you buy never expire.

Reminders are not arriving

  1. In Word Everest, check that Settings, then Reminders, then Daily reminder is switched on.
  2. In your device’s own Settings, then Notifications, then Word Everest, make sure notifications are allowed. If they are off, the game’s Reminders screen says so and opens the way there.
  3. The reminder comes once a day, at the time you chose, and only on days today’s ladder is still to play. It is a local notification and needs no internet connection.

Choosing the language of the glosses

Under each meaning the game can show a short gloss in Persian, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic. Pick it in Settings, then Language: the first language you pick is free, and the game asks you to confirm before it is used. Changing it later, or showing several together, needs Plus.

Purchases, Plus and refunds

  • Coin packs and Plus are bought through Apple. Plus is an optional subscription; the App Store shows its price, its period and how it renews before you buy.
  • To cancel Plus or change its plan, open your device’s Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Coins Plus has already added stay yours when it ends.
  • Your coins are kept in your own iCloud, so signing in with the same Apple Account on a new iPhone or iPad keeps them.
  • For billing or refunds, use Apple’s Report a Problem. If something you bought does not appear in the game, email us with the date of purchase and we will help.

A word or a meaning looks wrong

The words, meanings and lines about each pair are Acumo’s, so a correction there reaches both apps. Email support@lokotechnologies.ca with the word, the level or the day’s ladder you met it in, and what looks wrong.
